On Saturday 23rd November and morning of Sunday 24th November the Injury Prevention SIG will be running an ‘Injury Prevention Master Class’ exploring current injury issues.
In this master class on injury prevention we explore some of the wide range of topics around injury and how they can be prevented. This class is aimed at those who want to know more about injury prevention, those who work in a specific area of injury prevention and want to expand their knowledge, PhD and Masters student’s starting out in exploring injury prevention and those who work in health promotion or prevention and want to explore, discuss and be involved in preventing injuries and those who just like to talk about all things injury related.
Injuries are a leading cause of death and disability with over 460,000 hospitalisations and 12,000 deaths per annum, with the number of hospitalisation steadily increasing. Males are over represented. Falls and transport related incidents are common, however there are a wide variation of mechanisms which cause injuries.
In 2020 the World Injury Prevention Conference will be coming to Australia, as part of the this conference there will be a Master Class on Injury Prevention to help upskill those wanting to know more about and understand how injuries can be prevented. This Master Class will be used as a template for the 2020 World Master Class, as such happy to have any how are interested in being part of 2020 come along and provide their input.
